THE KINGDOM OF THE ICE BEAR

Cold.  Stark.  Barren.  Dark

In the Kingdom of the Ice Bear you never show your heart

Naught as far as the eye can see

Desolation.  Isolation.  Poverty

I smell the hunt.  It follows me.

In the Kingdom of the Ice Bear the weak cannot be

These creatures have no claws to scythe or cut

But then in a moment their trap can spring shut

You think you see me. But I see you

In the Kingdom of the Ice Bear your aim it must be true

That bullet must hit, you must bait your trap

You miss your moment then jaws will snap

I know this land far better than thee

In the Kingdom of the Ice Bear you better look out for me

For I am at home in this barren land

And there is no chance that I’ll fall at your hand

As old as time and white with snow

In the Kingdom of the Ice Bear the weak should not go

White as far as the eye can see

With the skulls of the fools who preceded thee

For you are not the first, with your knife so keen

With your sleigh so new, and your gun so clean

Your intentions as clear, as blood in the snow

I know you much more than you’ll ever know

The dread that you never made your mark

The terrors that make you cry out in the dark

Desolation, rejection, isolation, despair

None of these things can trouble a bear

Embattled, scarred, at one with the snow

The Kingdom of the Ice Bear will never let me go

Take aim!  Look into it’s eyes and see

Somewhere at the heart of that bear is….me
