PITY PARTY TRACK 17 – Alfie – CILLA BLACK

I’m feeling pretty sorry for myself tonight, and it’s ages since I did a Pity Party number, so here’s a bit of Cilla for you, singing the wonderful Burt Bacharach’s beautifully poignant ‘Alfie’

What’s it all about? 50 odd years on I’m none the wiser, let’s hope you are and you have enough love in your life to sustain you through the dark days and lonely nights x

  1. I’m none the wiser either. Is there even an answer? Difference is I don’t care anymore. It took a while, but it was worth the effort. And not that I don’t slip back occasionally. Just know more tricks for reversing the process.

  2. A wise blogger told me the other day “Looking at older (and wiser) people around me, I think it’s more of gentle acceptance and understanding about our place in the world, rather than still needing to have it ‘all figured out’!” That being said, I’ve still got a long way to go before I reach “gentle acceptance”. I think there are some of us that take longer to get there, Sista. And that’s okay.

  3. I’m 70, and I haven’t worked it out, either. Doubt if Michael Caine has; but he just enjoys himself, and good on him.

  4. Take no notice of me ladies, I was just tired, emotional and unbeknownst to me off my box on painkillers! Only just managed to wake up! Whoops…

  5. Wish you serenity Sista, sleep soundly!

  6. I believed I would become wiser. Still waiting. I do know one thing—I know what to avoid so that I don’t get burned again.

  7. I’m 50 and have no clue what I want to be when I grow up. I don’t know if I’ll ever know what it’s all about . Not sure I want to. Excellent pity party song. I think we all should keep a couple of them in our back pocket to pull out from time to time.
